My Paternal Side

My paternal grandparents were David Franklin Spangler and Ora Elizabeth Gamble. They will be the starting point of my research on this side.

David Spangler and Ora Gamble were married on July 12, 1925. I've yet to find a marriage license for them but this is the date that was always given by my grandmother. There were 5 children born to this marriage and one other child was adopted also.

David Spangler died in August of 1961 at the age of 79 years. This was about 1 year and 3 months before I was born. Ora Spangler never remarried and she died in April of 1982 at the age of 75.

My grandfather was married twice before he married my grandmother. He married a Susie Vaughn in 1903 and they had 4 children born to this union. Susie died in 1919. Grandpa later married a Bessie Walker but, from what I have heard, she ran away and was never heard from again!

I had no chance to know my paternal grandfather and had very little chance to get to know my paternal grandmother well. I do remember she was a very kind woman, at least to her grandkids. I've heard she also had a mean streak about her!

Most of my research on these lines was started by my cousin, Dorothy (Landers) Fisher, and I have added to it as I have been able to find records. There are some things she had in her research that I have not added yet because I have no sources to back it up yet!
