Atlanta, Texas -- George C. Forbes, 79, of Douglasville died Sunday morning at his residence from a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Hanner Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. A. M. Funderburk and the Rev. Tom Elliot officiating. Graveside services and burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in the Pope City Cemetery near Marshall.

Survivors include three sons, George C. Forbes Jr. of Jefferson, Calvin Forbes of Marshall, and Jerry Don Forbes of Dallas; five daughters, Mrs. R. B. Kirkland of Douglassville, Mrs. David Spangler of Dallas, Mrs. Bob Kesler, Mrs. Ellen Hansen, and Mrs. Ray Jones, all of Tyler; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Wisdom of Karnack, and Mrs. Addie Carwile of Linden; one brother, W. M. Forbes of Jefferson; 22 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for George C. Forbes, 78, of Douglassville, a former resident of Harrison County, were scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday in Hanner Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. A. M. Funderburk and the Rev. Tom Elliott officiating.

Burial was to follow in Pope City Cemetery in Harrison County.

Mr. Forbes died Saturday.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. R. B. Kirkland of Douglassville, Mrs. Bob Kesler, Ellen Hansen, and Mrs. Ray Jones, all of Tyler and Mrs. David Spangler of Dallas; three sons, George C. Forbes, Jr. of Jefferson, Calvin Forbes of Marshall, and Jerry Don Forbes of Dallas; two sisters, Hattie Wisdom of Karnack and Addie Carwile of Linden; one brother, W. M. Forbes of Jefferson; 22 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Mr. Forbes grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
