Welcome to Beyond Fiction, the weblog (blog) companion to my genealogy site. Click here if you would like to know why I named this blog as I did.
My name is Ken Spangler and I am the webmaster for kenspangler.com. For the last 2 years I have maintained The Forbes Stevenson Genealogy Home Page. I had taken the site from a small beginning to what was growing into quite a compilation of information. Now, with the launch of my new site I can present my complete genealogy research, both maternal and paternal, as well as share the life of my immediate family with you all!
I don’t really know what this blog will become. My first intentions are to have it as a way of expressing where I am at in my genealogical research, but I know that it will probably grow into much more than that. I would eventually like to make this a place where I can educate about how to do certain genealogical things, such as documenting, preserving, writing, publishing, and more. I also suspect that occasionally you will see my frustration in some of my writings. As exciting as genealogy can be, it can also sometimes be very, very discouraging. Hopefully this will not be taken as an assault on anyone but will just be taken as it is, a way to vent out my frustrations.
I feel that with this, I will be able to make my website complete. I will now have a complete, viable site with lots of information. I see that the message boards are starting to take off and now I can add a blog and be able to bring it all together.
Please understand that with maintaining the site, the message boards and the blog while also doing as much research as possible, I will be strained for time. I hope you undestand that there may be times when I go a while without making a post on the blog. Then again, I may post for a month straight. This is an important part of the site! After all, this is where you will actually be able to get inside my head!
So, come on in and grab a cup of coffee. Let’s get this thing to rolling!
Ken Spangler

Hi Ken,
I stumbled upon your site by accident, found it kept me in my seat and read everything. What a great oratory ability you have. Thank you for posting such great info…some of which like fell out of the heavens…or off your computer into my lap. Thank you!! I am a direct decendent of James Armstrong Presley and Perlina McClendon. James md. #2 to Mrs. Martha Spangler & William Henry Brown (my great uncle) md Nina Spangler. So the Spangler connection caught my eye. Thank you again for spreading joy in genealogy.
Regards,
Nancy Brehm
