A New Direction For My Blog!
Aug 11th, 2008 by kenopoly
OK, I can’t wait until Thursday to write this post! I think that Thursday might be a very busy day, making all our last minute preparations for our trip!
I just wanted to let everyone know that I intend to change my blog somewhat when I return to Texas. I love genealogy and I love blogging about my research but the simple fact is that I don’t always have something to blog about when research is slow. I’ve never intended my blog to be a place for the “Current News” in the genealogy world, there are already too many places like that! I just wanted a place to share my research with my family and it blossomed into sharing my research with some wonderful friends I have made along the way!
The last month has taught me that there will be times when I am not able to do research. Heck, there have been some times where I have gone for almost a year without doing any research. What kind of blog would this be then? I have come to the conclusion that I do not need to only blog about what happened in the past but also share what is happening in the present.
Think about it! What better place for my family to keep up with what is going on, not only with my research but with my family also? My son will be getting married in December. I will be a grandpa in March! My oldest daughter will be graduating in 2 years. There is so much going on in my life and that IS family history right now! Why not share other family history being made? Cousins who are in college and graduating. Marriages, births and other events happen everyday!
So, starting in September I will change my blogging habits. I will still share as much as I can with my genealogy but I will also share as much as I can about current history. Perhaps I will share my son’s experience in Iraq as he is scheduled to deploy in January! There is so much to write about but I have never even attempted to do so! No more! I hope that everyone will continue to read but if you choose to move on then I will understand. It will still be family history related and I will continue to share my genealogy finds but it doesn’t make sense to me to have 2 or 3 blogs when I can do it all at one place!
Here’s hoping everyone has a wonderful week and I will check back in with you all when I return from my trip. I have to work tonight, Tuesday night and Wednesday night but then I am on vacation!
Finally!!!

Hi. I joined your blog network on Facebook. I like the way you write. It’s open and interesting. I think it’s great that you’re changing your blog. Our lives are always changing, so our blogs have to go with us or they’ll get stale.
Amy in Houston.
Thanks, Amy!
I believe sometimes writing can get stale if we hold ourselves to one subject! Granted, genealogy is a very vast subject to cover but there are dead zones in our research and you need something to fill those gaps. Besides, aren’t we creating new genealogical history each day we live?
