Thank you everyone for your comments. I will be seeing the ocean again soon, albeit a different ocean. I'm going to Cherry Point, North Carolina in August to see my son. I'll be there for a whole week so I may even get to actually go into the water! :-)

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Ken,

I'm glad you had the chance to see the ocean. It is jaw dropping even for those of us who grew up near it.

Although I grew up on the beach, it has always been an awe-inspiring view. I've never been one to take it for granted and especially remember sharing my Tennessee cousins' first view of the sea. It was quite an event.

KEN, Thanks for sharing this recent beach experience. Two things I recommend for all to experience once in a life-time: a walk on the beach in the moonlight and to sleep/camp under a redwood tree. I got my redwood sleep done when I was 48 years old and am ready to do it again; walking on the beach in the moonlight was last done five years ago. Too long . . . thanks for making me remember.

Thanks for sharing with us your first trip to see the ocean. I hope you don't have to wait too long until you see it again. I am not a swimmer but I love to watch the water and to walk along the shore.
