Beyond Fiction

Hi everyone! I just wanted to stop in and say “Hello” and let everyone know how things are going in my life and in my research.

Life is pretty busy lately. It seems that my new job is actually giving me less time instead of more time. I originally thought that working 5 nights a week for 8 hours a night would be great. However, when I worked the rotating shifts of three 12 hour shifts and then three days off, I had a little more time to do my research and take care of other things. I’m not complaining. I enjoy my new job and I am less stressed than I have been in a long time. It’s just a strange new world for me and I have some adjustments to make.

I still want to begin my new look to this blog. As I said, not the color scheme or any of that but a different way of presenting my family and my research to everyone. I am working on getting some posts together to introduce you all to my siblings in the next few weeks. I’ve already introduced most of you to my Mom & Dad.

I honestly believe that the new changes in my blog will allow folks to see where I am coming from when I write. The more you know about the author, the easier it is to understand where he is coming from. To fully understand me, you must know about my family because they are the ones who have helped to shape me into the man I am today.

I know I failed to post anything on Memorial Day. I wanted to but my photos are so unorganized on my hard drive that I couldn’t hardly find any of them. I promise to try to post something soon. I believe all of my relatives who have served and are still serving deserve more praise for the great job they have done and are doing for this great country. Look for that soon.

In my genealogy research, I have been working hard on trying to get all my Spangler information organized. It’s getting there but it is going to take a while. There is so much to do and so little time, it seems! I have found some very interesting things lately and will address them in future posts. One of my recent discoveries is a picture that I am very proud of. It’s just a typical picture at an old grocery store in Detroit, Texas in the late 1940s. To me, however, it is a masterpiece. It is one of a few pictures I have of my dad when he was younger! It’s nice to see the place he worked from age 14 until he went into the Army at the age of 22! I’ll share that with you all later also.

I have to go to work now but I hope you all will continue to look for the changes that are coming. I promise they will be here soon! Actually, my last post about Six Flags is probably a way of seeing how I would like to change. It’s not just ancient history, it’s today’s history as well!
