Absolute Or Relative?
May 14th, 2008 by kenopoly
Once again I have a post that has nothing to do with genealogy. However, it is something to do with my website design which is where I host all my genealogy research!
I’ve been debating how to code my new website. I am making the move from my Forbes-Stevenson domain to my KenSpangler.com domain and it will be the last move I make. It is with that in mind that I began to focus on whether I should use absolute links or relative links. For those who don’t know what that is you can reference the article that I am referencing.
I’ve come to the conclusion that I will be content to go with absolute links for my site. Why? Because it makes more sense. There are too many things that can go wrong with a site that is using relative links. I ran across an interesting article and if you read the one long comment in the middle of the discussion you will see why I came to the conclusion I came to. It is one of the best arguments I have heard in the debate about relative versus absolute! So here it is: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/159738
How appropriate that my answer was found on a forum for WordPress!
