Still Sorting Photos!
Apr 21st, 2008 by kenopoly
Well, I promised an update and here it is. I’ve been slowly but surely sorting through all of my photos and it’s been a very tedious job! I really can’t remember what happened but the fact is that a lot of my pictures got mixed in with the photos I inherited from my mother-in-law and I just found it easier to pull all of my pictures out of the albums they were in (with blank spots, out of order, etc…) and sort through them all and put them back in some sort of order.
You’d think you would never forget things but my wife and I discovered that we are just getting old and couldn’t remember all the dates exactly so we just guesstimated most of them.
Anyways, I originally posted on this yesterday and I thought I would let you know just where I am at now. I have made it through 1996 and I’m getting ready to do 1997. I’ve filled up 3 albums and have started on the 4th. It’s obvious I will need at least 3 more albums, perhaps more. Each album holds about 324 pictures so it’s quite a few pictures.
I will probably wait until next weekend to go out and buy more albums. I will be working Monday through Friday, 6:30 pm until 2:30 am and will probably take any time during the week to sort through some other things.
I am about ready to just start saying that I am not just a genealogist but a family historian! After all, it seems as if though I am striving to preserve as much of the family history as possible. I still have to order about about 250 pictures from Snapfish that I scanned from my Uncle Jerry. I have about 200 more that I scanned from my cousin, Lester. I also have over 1000 photos that I scanned from my mother’s collection that I have yet to even upload to Snapfish! Then I have all the inherited photos from mother-in-law and a CD of photos given to me by another cousin which has well over 1000 photos!
I could make a serious hobby out of just preserving all these photos!
Well, I guess I had better get back to my pictures. I’ll update a little more on this all later!
Have a great week everyone!

All these digital photos are getting difficult to store! I was searching a while back for some type of “digital storage box” that would hold more photos than the traditional photo sharing sites, and I didn’t find too much that I liked. I still share some good shots on Flickr, but now dump the majority onto Pixamo to share with family members privately.
