Sorting Photos

Well, another day, another project!
So, I have been busy lately with a new project. I’ve been trying to slowly sort through all my pictures. It’s been a very interesting process. I never really realized how many pictures I have! I have tons of them!
One problem I have discovered is that I have wasted a lot of money in the past. I’ve bought all these packages of pictures and, apparently, have never given any of them out! I have like 10 to 15 wallets of different poses. It adds up to a big box full of duplicates! I have also discovered duplicates on my 5 x 7 and 8 x 10 pictures. My plan right now is to sort through them and send them all to my brothers and sisters and make sure they are actually put to use!
My methodology at the moment is to sort my pictures by size. I have one album full of 5 x 7 photos. I have one album of 8 x 10 photos and I have a small album of wallet size photos. For the wallet size photos I have used some sleeves that are used for trading cards! I have yet to tackle the 4 x 6 and 3 1/2 x 5 photos. I have them sort of separated into sandwich bags (yes, sandwich bags) for the time being. I figured this would keep them from curling up on the edges until I get them into a photo album.
Anyway, I wanted to talk about how fun it was tonight. My 15 year old daughter sat down with me and began going through the pictures with me. As we started to pile up duplicates I could see that she was eager to find out what I was going to do with them. Well, I made her day! I didn’t give her copies of everything but if I had several duplicates then I gave her one of them. She was so excited. She was like a kid in a candy store.
It was nice to be able to spend almost 3 hours with her sorting through pictures and being able to tell her some of the stories behind them. I am so hoping that she will retain a lot of what we talked about and share it with her children someday.
So, that is the first step in my organization of my photos. I’ll update you along the way as I make progress.
Have a great week!
