Wouldn’t It Be Grand …

So, the other day I went to a local cemetery to look for a grave that someone had requested a photo for. I searched in the block where it should have been but couldn’t find it. Seeing some of the cemetery workers nearby, I decided to ask them for their help. One man took me to the exact spot where the grave was but there was no stone. It was disappointing!
I was joking with my daughter who had been standing right where the tombstone should have been. I said “Maybe you should just stay there and just tell people who is buried there when they walk by!” I then thought to myself, hmmm, what an interesting idea.
Just think about it …
…
…
A digital tombstone! Would that be grand or what? You could have a solar panel attached so that it would have power and it could have a motion sensor so that if anyone came close it would start up. Imagine, you want to do your genealogy research so you go to the grave site and just start recording. If I stopped by my dad’s grave it would say “Hello, my name was David Isaac Spangler. I was born on November 12, 1928 to David Franklin Spangler and Ora Elizabeth Gamble. On July 12, 1953 I married Patricia Ann Forbes ……..”
Hey, with today’s technology this isn’t so far fetched. Of course, I’d hate to be walking through the graveyard at night!
OK, enough of my ramblings today. I just wanted to share my crazy idea with you all!
Happy hunting!
PS: Wouldn’t you know it! Someone has already thought of this! Oh well, I still like the idea though. Perhaps if it was just a digital recording instead of video it would be better. Check out this link.
