Find A Grave Is An Awesome Site

Hmm, I wonder what this post will be about?
I’m still going through a lot of the sites I discovered and rediscovered during the last Carnival of Genealogy. One of those sites that I have discovered is Find A Grave. I played around with it for a while and found a few things that I am glad to have found but now I am having fun by adding records to the site.
You never know what may come of it. If nothing else you may be saving a relative who lives far away the hassle of getting a tombstone picture. Yesterday, I added 8 new records to the site and I have so many more that I can add. I am so excited.
One thing I have enjoyed doing is being able to not only put the tombstone picture but also being able to put the city, state, county of the birth and death of the person and adding an obituary in the “bio” section. Yes, that may be too much info because the folks viewing it will not have any reason to contact me but I try to imagine how I would like it to be. If someone is genuinely interested in researching their families they will contact those who are posting the pictures and info. I’ve already contacted a couple of folks.

Another part of Find A Grave that I like is that it has a place where you can post requests. This not only works for me because I may finally be able to get a picture of that stone I have been searching for, but it also allows me to help others who are looking for photos in my area. I’ve already got my sites set on a couple of requests that are close by!
For those who haven’t heard of Find A Grave, you owe it to yourself to check it out. Just be prepared to spend a lot of time at your computer. It’s very addictive!

Ken,
I’m so glad you followed through and revisited findagrave.com and posted some of your photographs. It is a great way to share information. I’m looking forward to reading about the contacts you will make from the things you have posted.
