An Unusual, Yet Pleasant Thanksgiving
Nov 23rd, 2007 by kenopoly
Yep, I’m back with another post!
Yesterday was our great day of Thanksgiving! This year however was very unusual. For one, we didn’t have my son at home for Thanksgiving because he is still training for the Marines! He should be home for Christmas though! We also didn’t do the great big family thing. Due to certain circumstances we weren’t welcome to celebrate with the main portion of the family so we had what I called “A Black Sheep Thanksgiving”!
Yes, I know that sounds bad but it actually turned out very well. It was just me, the wife, the two daughters, my youngest sister and her new boyfriend. However, later in the day I had some cousins to show up and they had not had a chance to eat Thanksgiving dinner so they sat down and had dinner with us! It was the first time we had to wait until almost 6PM to eat but it was worth it because we got to share it with some cousins that I really enjoyed having over. Yes, it would have been nice to have been with everyone else but the simple truth is that we were with those we loved, we had a great time of fellowship and there was no bad-mouthing from those who weren’t interested in being there in the first place. I believe that this was probably one of the best Thanksgivings I have had since my Dad passed in 2000.
I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday and has similar stories to share. It may be short and it may be short on details but the moral of the story is that I had a Thanksgiving that I will not soon forget. For that I am truly thankful!

It is difficult when our family members are not all home for the holidays, and the usual traditions must change. Glad to hear you had a nice holiday despite it all, and that change can be good!
