Interesting Info On Spangler Surname
Aug 1st, 2007 by kenopoly
This post is not so much a discovery as it as a reminder for myself. On a visit to my last surviving Aunt on my Spangler side I came across some interesting information. My father’s twin sister and her daughter were really entertaining and I look forward to our next visit with them. During our 5 hour visit, my cousin mentioned that we were “kicked out” of Pennsylvania. When I asked her to go deeper about it, she mentioned that she couldn’t remember everything but that one of our ancestors married an Indian woman and was kicked out because of it. She also mentioned that we had ties, somehow, to the Spangler College in Pennsylvania.
I find this intriguing because I have not found any ties to Pennsylvania yet. I know there are a lot of Spanglers there and it would seem logical to assume that we must be related somehow or another but I have yet to make the connection. This is my first breakthrough on that so perhaps I can begin to look in that direction. As of this moment, tracing backwards, my family came to Texas from Arkansas, prior to being in Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and Virginia. At least, that is the way I have found. Perhaps I, or my other cousin from which I got most of my information, have made a mistake along the way! Perhaps this cousin is mistaken.
At least I have a new approach to take to my Spangler research. I’ll update as I am able to find more.

Good luck with your Spangler research.
