Honoring Those Who Served!
May 28th, 2007 by kenopoly
It’s Memorial Day! It’s also very late but I wanted to share this. As I got around to checking some of the other blogs, I thought it would be nice to list those who I know have served in the Armed Forces in my family. Not all have given their lives for their country, but these were willing, if needed!
Currently serving:
Sam Ray Money (nephew) - U. S. Navy
Cody Kirkland Jackson (cousin) - National Guard (now serving in Iraq)
Those who have served in the past:

Charles Beal, my 2nd-great-grandfather, served in the Civil War. He was in the 49th Regiment, Wisconsin Infantry.

George Charles Forbes, my maternal grandfather, served in the Texas Defense Guard. I wrote a post recently about him and his WWI draft registration card!

David Isaac Spangler, my father, served in the U. S. Army during the time of the Korean Conflict!

Lester Hansen, my cousin, served in the U. S. Air Force for 25 or 30 years. Sorry, I’m not really sure how long it was!

Robert Spangler, my brother, served in the U. S. Army for 2 tours, totaling almost 10 years.

Kenneth Spangler, that’s me, served in the U. S. Army from November 1981 until November 1987.
Others who served but I don’t have a picture of:
Bertram Hansen (Uncle) - U. S. Army
George Charles Forbes, Jr. (Uncle) - U. S. Army
Hubbard Barnes Stevenson, Jr. (cousin) - U. S. Navy, WWII, died when his ship sank.
William Paul Mittelstedt (brother-in-law) - U. S. Marine Corps.
Alfred Pascua (brother-in-law) - U. S. Army
Herrick Alexander Forbes (2nd great-granduncle) - Union soldier in Civil War.
And, of course, many others who I just can’t think of at this moment.
A big “Thank You” to all the veterans who have given to the defense of their country!
